Buying Guide: Key Purchase Considerations
- Material and durability: Look for heavy-duty rubber or injection-molded construction to ensure long-term use across seasons and varying weather.
- Grip and surface texture: A textured top—whether ridges or a waffle pattern—helps keep the ball from slipping during kicks and drills.
- Angle options: Some tees offer multiple angles or notches (like the Triplex 3-in-1) to support different kick types, including long kicks, squib kicks, and onside kicks.
- Visibility: Bright colors (orange, black, or high-contrast tones) improve spot-ability on grass or turf, aiding quick setup during practice.
- Portability and setup: Compact, lightweight tees are easy to carry between drills, with simple assembly and stable bases on various surfaces.
- Intended use: Consider whether you need a tee for kickoffs, field goals, or onside kicks. Some tees are specialized (e.g., three-in-one designs) to cover multiple scenarios.
- Brand reliability: Reputable brands can indicate tested designs used by schools and teams, offering confidence in performance and compatibility with standard footballs.
- Price versus durability: While prices vary, prioritize tees that combine lasting materials and practical features over lower-cost, short-lived options.
Overall, selecting a 1-inch kicking tee involves balancing grip, stability, and durability with the specific drill needs. For solo practice, a mid-range option with a strong grip and multiple-angle capability provides versatility. For team use, choose a heavier-duty model with reliable wear resistance and clear ball placement to stand up to frequent drills in different weather conditions.
